Real Retreat Reflections

real retreat 08 for webThe theme of the Real Retreat was holiness…the process that every Christian goes through in looking more like Jesus. Students had the opportunity to share what they had been learning on the retreat by writing their thoughts on poster board that was up in the room. This was one of the anonymous comments left that really seemed to be at the heart of the what the weekend.

“As I begin to go through the stations, I wrote a lot in my booklet. I copied quotes, I began to realize that in all I wrote I would put “we”, “us”, or “our”. I thought for a while. Then I went back and changed “we” to “I”, “us” to “me”, and “our” to “my”. I re-read some of the things. And it really, really helped me realize that I need to be holy and I must strive to be more like Christ. Peter has called me to do these things and to be self-controlled. It was and is huge for me to look at it upon that perspective.”

Real Retreat 08

real retreat web 08The theme for the Real Retreat this year is Holiness. In attending you will be introduced to J.C. Ryle who wrote an essay on this subject that has stood the test of time in the Christian church. His words are written in the distant past but have striking relevance for the Christian who is serious about loving and living for Jesus Christ. He addresses hard and trying subjects: the power and depth of indwelling sin, the necessity of a holy life, the struggle and fight of faith, and the cost of following Jesus.

Be at the Warehouse at 4/18 at 6:15pm for dinner together then we’ll head to Camp Burton. Returning to the Warehouse on 4/19 at 6:30pm
