The Impact Awards

Rules and Regulations

  • What is the Impact Awards Night?

Each Student Life Group will make a movie or music video that will compete and be judged against the videos from all other Student Life groups. On Friday, May 15th we will be having a formal awards night. Each video will be shown in its entirety. There will be awards given in different categories (similar to the Oscars). This is a formal occasion, please dress accordingly.

  • Who can participate?

You must be part of a Student Life group and each group is expected to enter a video. You may have people outside of your Student Life Group included in your video.

  • What are the video requirements?

Each group will turn in a video that is no longer than 5 minutes (we reserve the right to edit your video if you go over). Each member of your Student Life group must make an appearance. The video can be a movie, music video or whatever you think the judges will like best. The video will be judged on originality, creativity, acting ability, special effects and whatever other things the judges think is cool!

  • When does the video need to be turned in?

Each Student Life group must have their video turned into Southam in its final form by 6pm on Sunday, April 26th. Acceptable formats are DVD, MPEG, WMV or Mini DV tape.

  • New for 2009!

If your Student Life group turns in its video to Southam by 6pm on Sunday, April 19th (one week early), you can also turn in a 30-second trailer to be shown at SI on Thursday, April 30th.  It will also be posted on the website, which could give you an early advantage for the People’s Choice Award.
